The new buzz word for media center is “learning commons”. Are we already a learning commons? If not, what changes do we need to make?

First Response
*information needs to be accessible to students and they need to produce in the media center, not just consume/check out books.
Library needs to be more mobile. Students need different spaces to fit their needs.
Collaboration!
Need more people in library to handle circulation, etc. while other needs are met in order to become a learning commons.
Need more flexibility to become a learning commons!

Furniture on wheels...get people to observe and work together, my furniture gets moved but it is not on wheels.. Grant to redo the chairs..

Concern 1-1 computing in 3years... What will that look like... Does the learning commons support that collaborative work style

A place to showcase the work as well

Infrastructure presents a concern... Enough power outlets...recharging stations

Bought fabric..slipcovers from walmaty, staple guns...got a grant to fund this to refresh the library furniture
